INTELECOM Wins 2009 CODiE Award

Award Reinforces INTELECOM’s Commitment to Online and Distance Learning

INTELECOM Intelligent Telecommunications has been recognized by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) for its online video clip repository, winning the 2009 CODiE Award for Best Education Reference or Search Service. INTELECOM was also recognized as a Finalist in the Best Education Solution category.

"We are very pleased to receive a CODiE award which represents a milestone in our 40-year history in distance education," said Glenn Kammen, president of INTELECOM Intelligent Telecommunications. "It validates our strategy and approach to both content development and delivery in the age of online and mobile learning.”

The INTELECOM Online Resources Network is a digital content repository and searchable database of short academic video clips. Made available as a subscription streaming service, the INTELECOM Online Resources Network is designed to meet the growing need for rich media in support of online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes offered at post-secondary institutions and virtual high schools. Without such a service, educators wishing to use media must undergo a lengthy process of Internet searching in which results are far from guaranteed. Additionally there are usually ambiguous copyright as well as captioning issues to worry about, and links that clearly feature another institution and that can become obsolete.

“There is so much demand for rich media in support of learning and lots of ways to serve it up. The challenge we faced in developing our service was how to do so in a way that has real value to educators,” said Cameron Cox, Vice President at INTELECOM. “To receive the CODiE award from our peers, many of whom are in education, is just a tremendous honor.”

The CODiE Awards hold the distinction of being the industry’s only peer-reviewed awards program, which provides member companies with a unique opportunity to earn praise from their competitors. Now in its twenty-fourth year, the CODiE Awards program has raised the standard for excellence and serves as prestigious representation of outstanding achievement and vision in the software and information industry.

"Now in its 24th year, the CODiE Awards continue to recognize those companies providing the best new technology products and services across a broad array of industries," noted SIIA President Ken Wasch. "In addition, its winners are a prolific testament to the power of technology to deliver innovative solutions to businesses and consumers. SIIA warmly congratulates all of the winners and nominees of the CODiE Awards, whose innovation is essential for continuing America's leadership in the global knowledge economy," Wasch continued.
